Here’s what we have been up to lately
Emsy Clark taking 1035 pounds for a ride on a box 1" high. We use the reverse bands to take some stress off at the bottom to keep our form straight and get used to the heavier weight. Bands deload about 100 pounds at the box. He felt the entire load at the top.
Jimmy Joice taking 525 to the chest for the first time. This is the most he has done to the chest ever. He is still getting used to the heavy weight. Jimmy has done 435 raw, 485 in a meet in a single ply Titan Katana, 505 in a meet in the same shirt and now 525. His numbers will keep going up as he continues to get used to the shirt and the weight.
Pillar Strength Owner, Jim Gorrell, deadlifting 655 pounds at 182lbs. body weight. His grip gave on the right side forcing him to put it down, otherwise an easy double.
This is Emsy Clark attempting 775. Last week he pulled 725 for an easy double. I think it is important to recognize our failure as well as celebrating our successes. That is how we learn and improve. He is very close to conquering this weight on his journey towards an 800# pull. He will learn from this an be stronger for it.
1-10-19 - Had to post an update on this. Emsy came back this morning to pull this with relative ease. It ripped off the floor and slowed down a bit before he locked it out but he got it. Appologies for not having the video but I was pretty excited after slapping him around a bit before the attempt and forgot to hit the record button on my phone. Sometimes it takes some good smacks to get the weight moving. - Jim
Emsy Clark taking 625 to a 2-board. Emsy has made huge strides since April 2018. He is closing in on a 1000 lb squat, near an 800 deadlift and now will soon bench 600 at his next meet. We expect huge things from Emsy this year. He will be competing at SPF Nationals in June.
Jen taking 375 to a box to parallel with loose wraps and reverse bands. The way we had it set up, the bands deloaded about 75 pounds. Jen will be going to SPF Worlds in Atlanta this September.
